Incertidumbre y Ansiedad

Uncertainty and Anxiety

Hard times

We live in times where uncertainty seems to take away our peace and tranquility. There are many factors that feed it, such as the health situation that the world is going through, political conflicts and without mentioning in detail the personal challenges that each person may experience. In short, it seems to me that the uncertainty for many has been so constant that we are not aware of its presence.

Normal anxiety vs. Pathological anxiety

In times of uncertainty many symptoms can be exacerbated. So, this is where the phenomenon of anxiety can manifest itself. Anxiety can be defined as an unpleasant state when faced with imminent danger. When anxiety is directly proportional to an event, it can be considered normal anxiety according to Rollo May. On the other hand, if this represents symptomatology out of proportion, it can be considered pathological anxiety . This differentiation is necessary since we all experience anxiety in some way and that does not mean that we necessarily suffer from some psychopathology.

Not afraid to seek help

In this area there are several factors to consider and therefore we must be careful not to self-diagnose. If you are experiencing some symptoms such as thoughts of danger , feelings of apprehension , physiological reactions and motor movements related to anxiety, I recommend that you visit a mental health professional who can help you through your challenges. I urge you not to lose sight of your strengths and the leading role in the meaning and purpose of your life. Problems are temporary and have a solution, that is why they are problems. I encourage you not to lose faith and hope in difficult times.

In times of uncertainty there is a biblical text that always blesses me and it is in Philippians 4: 6-7: Don't worry about anything; rather, on every occasion, with prayer and supplication, present your requests to God and give thanks to Him. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
